Switzerland to host Iranian-Filipino doc ‘The Silhouettes’

Iranian-Filipino documentary ‘The Silhouettes’ has been selected to go on screen at the international film festival of Visions du Réel in Switzerland.

Directed by Afsaneh Salari, the documentary is about an Afghan family that had left their homeland 40 years ago to start a new life in Iran.

Now their son who is an engineering student wants to return to Afghanistan to live and work there, but the family opposes his plan.

The feature-length doc has succeeded to grab the ‘Docs In Progress’ award, worth 5,000 Euros, at the 2019 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Established in 1969, the Visions du Réel (Visions of Reality) is an internationally renowned documentary film festival and the largest Swiss documentary event. The week-long festival is open to worldwide entries. 

The event is slated for April 24-May 02, 2020 in Nyon, Switzerland
